This editorial policy explains how Travelguidestip researches, writes, reviews, and updates our travel guides. Our goal is to deliver accurate, helpful, and honest content to international travelers planning trips to Southeast Asia.

Research Standards

Every guide on Travelguidestip is built on three sources:

  1. Firsthand experience — Our writers have physically visited the destinations we cover. Where a writer has not personally visited, we clearly note this in the article or rely on verified sources only.
  2. Authoritative data — We cite government tourism boards (TAT, TAT Singapore, Tourism Indonesia, etc.), statistical agencies (Numbeo, Budget Your Trip), industry reports (Michelin Guide, C9 Hotelworks, STR Global), and peer-reviewed travel publications.
  3. Official operator pricing — Prices are pulled from Klook, Booking.com, Agoda, Airalo, and direct operator websites at the time of writing.

Fact-Checking Process

Before any article is published:

  • Every statistic is traced back to a verifiable source with a link
  • Prices are cross-checked against at least two booking platforms
  • Visa rules and entry requirements are verified against official embassy or immigration sources
  • Travel times and transport fares are confirmed with local operators

Corrections Policy

If you spot an error, email hello@travelguidestip.com. We respond within 48 hours and publish corrections within 7 days. Major corrections include a note at the top of the article showing the original claim, the correction, and the date.

Affiliate Independence

Travelguidestip earns commissions from affiliate partnerships with Klook, Booking.com, Agoda, and Airalo. These commissions never influence our ratings, rankings, or recommendations. We regularly recommend non-affiliate alternatives (e.g., government-run booking sites, local operators) when they represent better value.

Updating Schedule

Every destination guide is reviewed at least quarterly. Major guides (pillar pages) are fully updated every 6 months. Price-sensitive content (budget guides, hotel reviews) is reviewed monthly during peak travel season (November through February).

AI Usage Disclosure

Travelguidestip uses AI tools to assist with research, outline generation, and editing. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and fact-checked by a human editor before publication. We do not publish AI-generated content without human review and verification.

Transparency

Every article shows:

  • Publication date and last-updated date
  • Author attribution
  • Inline source citations with links
  • A clear affiliate disclosure at the top
  • Schema markup for structured data (JSON-LD)
